About Aegis National
For Drivers, by a Former Driver
Aegis
Modern Definition: Aegis / āy-jǔs / noun - The protection, support, or backing of a person or organization.
Mythology: The Aegis was a divine shield crafted by Zeus from the hide of the goat Amaltheia, who
nursed him as an infant. It represented divine authority, offered protection from any assault, and inspired
fear in his enemies by manifesting deafening thunder.
Hey there fellow drivers, my name is Andrew Clark. I’m a veteran, a former driver of over ten years, and
I’ve been brokering freight since 2024. Throughout my years of combined logistics experience, I’ve
noticed something that makes me more than a little concerned. Why are owner operators and small fleets
almost entirely hiring people or companies in foreign countries to do their dispatching? I’ve talked to these
dispatchers day in and day out since I became a broker, and I honestly don’t know how they can even call
themselves dispatchers. They often have no logistics experience, don’t communicate well, and the vast
majority of them are located in countries that thrive on fraud against Americans. So why are carriers
taking the risk of putting their hard earned and maintained businesses and reputations in the hands of
these people?
In 2025, I spoke with literally dozens of owner operators who answered my question with essentially the
same response, “Man, I’d gladly hire an American dispatcher or dispatching company if I could find one!”
I kept thinking, what do you mean “…if I could find one”? So, I started doing research, and I was pretty
shocked at the lack of options. Most so-called dispatchers, both foreign and domestic, are a single
person, with no legal entity or documentation, no experience, and no plan of action or initial consultation
for the driver or fleet to understand their operational costs and goals. I’m not joking when I say that I spent
a lot of time searching for and talking with these “dispatchers”.
Throughout the year, these conversations with carriers happened repeatedly, continuously prodding me in
the back of my mind. Until in October, an owner operator I brokered freight to and became friendly with,
had his FMCSA and load board credentials fraudulently used to double broker freight by a foreigner
posing as a dispatcher. Having no recourse against this foreign individual, he’s had to acquire a new MC
and USDOT number, and deal with a ton of both headache and heartache, essentially starting his
trucking business over practically from scratch.
Obviously, as a broker, I’d seen this before. But only from afar, in that I had scammers attempt to double
broker my customer’s freight numerous times, using the MC numbers of carrier’s I’d never met. But this
was a carrier I considered a partner, a neighbor, and a friend. I was, and still am furious about it.
As a result, I’ve invested time and money to provide a secure, reliable, knowledgeable, competitively
priced, and 100% American owned and staffed dispatch company. I decided that the company’s chief
goal should be to protect the carriers it works with, both from fraudsters, and freight market fluctuations by
utilizing my experience as both a driver and a broker.
To do that, we needed a name and symbol to represent that goal, the Aegis. A set of core values to
always remind us of our responsibility to the carriers we serve, knowledge, urgency, vigilance, and
integrity, which we proudly display on our logo to make sure that we remember. Finally, we needed to be
available to drivers throughout the United States, and be able to support them nationally, wherever the
most profitable freight lanes might take them.
That’s who Aegis National is, and it’s what we stand for. For your business, your drivers, and for you.
